Central Bank of Jordan Management

Central Bank of Jordan Management consists of a board of directors that manage the Bank's general affairs. The Chairman of the Board is the Governor of the Bank, with his two deputies and other six members. The Board exercises its authorities and responsibilities as determined by the Central Bank law or any other law and regulations issued thereunder.

 

The Present Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan \ H.E. Dr. Adel Al-Sharkas

By a Royal Decree, H.E. Dr. Adel Al-Sharkas was appointed as Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan as of January 10, 2022. Also, a Royal Decree was issued granting him the title "His Excellency "as of June 1, 2024.

Prior to that, Dr. Al-Sharkas held the position of Deputy Governor of the Bank, he held several positions at the research department at the Bank, where he served as the head of the monetary affairs Division from 2008 to 2010, then as an assistant executive manager of the research department from 2010 to 2011, and finally as its executive manager in 2011.

Also, H.E. served as a lecturer at The University of New Orleans, USA, from 2001 to 2002, and as an assistant professor at Alfred University, USA, from 2002 to Jan 2006, he also served as an associate professor from Jan 2006 to June 2006; H.E. also served as a Part-time Associate Professor and Part-time Professor at the University of Jordan, Hashemite University, The World Islamic Sciences and Education University, Institute of Banking Studies / Jordan, and the NYIT University / Jordan.

Dr. Al-Sharkas was born in 1966, he holds a Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the University of New Orleans, USA, a Master’s degree in Economics / Statistics and a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Statistics both from Al-Yarmouk University, Jordan.
