Information Security Policy
One of the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) top priorities is to ensure information security. The scope of CBJ’s information security includes the protection of confidentiality, integrity and availability of information. In conformity with relevant laws and regulations in Jordan, the CBJ endeavors to provide for all security requirements necessary to protect its information assets.
Aiming at providing a secure and safe working environment is a cornerstone that facilitates achieving CBJ’s national and strategic objectives, and ensures the sustainability of its operations while being provided efficiently.
International standards and best practices underpinning CBJ approach to manage information security pursue maintaining the information assets and protecting it from any possible surrounding risks. By implementing this approach, CBJ seeks to reduce and mitigate the relevant risks to acceptable levels and to put in place the effective controlling and monitoring tools to protect its information.
This policy applies to all employees at the CBJ and any external parties contracting with the CBJ. They are required to understand and adhere to this policy and other security polices when dealing, using and/or processing any information or information assets belonging to CBJ or related to its operations.
The CBJ determines requirements of information security on the following basis:
1. CBJ’s strategy and objectives;
2. Risk assessments through which the CBJ assess risk exposures threatening the information assets, identifying weaknesses, occurrence possibilities as well as any adverse impacts of these risks;
3. Applicable legal, regulatory and contractual requirements; and the dominant culture;
4. Business requirements and objectives related to exchanging, preparing, storing, transferring and destroying information;
5. Cost Benefit Analysis, by which the benefits from implementing controls and securing the resources on one hand is compared with the size of the possible damage on CBJ’s operations, having not put those controls and resources in place.
The Governor
