Extending Working Periods of Payment Systems Managed by the Central Bank of Jordan

Pursuant to the Central Bank of Jordan’s keenness to optimally serve the national economy, accelerate the monetary cycle, effectively and efficiently manage liquidity, give citizens dealing with payment systems an extra time to collect cheques through the electronic clearing system, and carry out financial transfers  interbanks inside the kingdom; the Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan has thereby decided to extend the working periods of payment systems managed by the Central Bank for an extra hour starting from 1/5/2017 and as follows:

  • Extending the period of receiving cheques from citizens to be collected on the same business day till 01:00 p.m. instead of 12:00 p.m..
  • Extending the period of receiving high- value transfers from citizens to be sent through the Real Time Gross Settlement System (RTGS- Jo) inside the Kingdom till 3:30 p.m. instead of 2:30 p.m..
  • Extending the period of receiving low- value transfers from citizens to be sent through Automatic Clearing House (ACH- JO) inside the Kingdom till 2:30 p.m. instead of 1:30 p.m.
