The Central Bank of Jordan Launches 2025 Cybersecurity Bootcamp for the Financial and Banking Sector
On behalf of Dr. Adel Al-Sharkas, Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, Deputy Governor Dr. Khaldoun Al-Weshah officially launched the second edition of the Cybersecurity Bootcamp for the financial and banking sector. The 2025 bootcamp aims to enhance the efficiency and expertise of professionals in the sector, enabling them to keep pace with global advancements in cybersecurity and emerging technologies, while strengthening their ability to address escalating digital threats. This initiative contributes to building a secure digital space and fostering a sustainable investment climate in the Kingdom.
This program builds on the remarkable success of its inaugural edition in 2024, which significantly improved the skills of sector employees, strengthened their risk management capabilities, and enhanced institutional cyber readiness. In that first edition, a total of 144 employees at various levels were trained, collectively earning 816 internationally accredited certifications.
Spanning three months, the second edition will be delivered under the supervision of leading international trainers and experts. It will feature several specialized tracks, including intermediate and advanced technical training, risk management and compliance, penetration testing and vulnerability assessment, cybersecurity risks associated with emerging technologies, and a dedicated program for Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) focusing on strategic leadership in cybersecurity.
Participants will also have the opportunity to obtain internationally recognized certifications from globally renowned institutions in cybersecurity training, ensuring alignment with the latest practices and technologies in this critical field. In total, 311 sector employees will take part in the program, earning 1,040 specialized technical and professional certifications across the outlined tracks.
During the opening ceremony, Deputy Governor Dr. Khaldoun Al-Weshah noted that the success of the 2024 bootcamp was a key driver in continuing this pioneering initiative in 2025. He underscored that cybersecurity has become a cornerstone of financial and banking sector resilience. Stressing that investing in national talent and equipping them with world-class skills represents the most effective safeguard against rapidly evolving digital threats, while reinforcing trust in the Jordanian financial system, protecting customer interests, and strengthening the resilience of the national economy.
Echoing this perspective, Eng. Ibrahim Al-Shafei, Executive Director of the Financial Computer Emergency Response Team for the financial and banking sector, affirmed that the bootcamp reflects the Central Bank of Jordan’s commitment to placing human capital at the forefront of its priorities. Through specialized and intensive training aligned with global developments in cybersecurity, the bootcamp contributes to building a comprehensive protection framework for the financial sector and enhances its ability to counter growing cyber risks. He added that this investment in human resources will empower financial institutions to confront cyber challenges more effectively and support their safe expansion in providing financial services through digital channels.
