Investments and Foreign Operations Department

The Investments and Foreign Operations Department is responsible for managing CBJ's investments and assets of gold and foreign currencies in a manner that meets the standards of security, liquidity, and profitability, in addition to managing all foreign financial and banking operations. The department particularly assumes the following tasks:
- Maintaining and managing the Kingdom's assets of gold and foreign currencies according to the decisions of the Governor as well as the Investment Committee.
- Executing the Governor's decisions related to appointing the correspondent banks and setting the terms and conditions of dealing with them.
- Following up CBJ's relations with its foreign approved correspondents and monitoring the credit risks resulting from dealing with them.
- Executing the financial and banking operations related to the Kingdom's relations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other Arab, regional, and international institutions.
- Calculating the exchange rate of foreign currencies against the Jordanian Dinar (JOD) per the relevant regulations.
- Setting the interest rates on foreign currencies applied to the deposits of CBJ's customers.
- Executing and following up the operations related to documentary credits of import and export.
- Executing the foreign banking operations related to transferring, issuing, and collecting cheques and buying and selling foreign banknotes.
- Executing operations related to documentary withdrawals and coverage operations among domestic banks in foreign currencies.
- Executing foreign banking operations related to received remittances, domestic remittances, and deposit remittances of the domestic banks' accounts in foreign currency.
- Studying the draft loan agreements that the government or its institutions intend to conduct with other parties, making the necessary recommendations regarding these agreements, and following them up.
- Preparing and executing payment agreements, financial arrangements, and clearing accounts between the Kingdom and other countries.
- Conducting statistical and analytical studies and reports that pertain to the department's business and / or those requested by the Investment Committee or the Governor.
- Administrating operative systems in the department and those owned by it and monitoring them in accordance with the applicable instructions in this regard.
- Carryout risks and supervisory controls self-assessment related to the department’s function in coordination with the Risk management and compliance department per the related instructions and the adopted methodologies to determine the levels and methods of processing and managing risks.
